Despite minor hurdles in the online ticketing process, home-bound passengers are leaving Dhaka with smiles this year as train schedules remain largely on track.
On Monday (March 16), Kamalapur Railway Station saw a significant surge in travelers. Security remained tight and disciplined; authorities only allowed ticket-holders onto the platforms, effectively preventing overcrowding.
Riasat, a private employee traveling to Brahmanbaria on the Upaban Express, expressed his satisfaction. "This year’s journey is comfortable because I secured my ticket online. The station is organized and free of the usual chaos," he said.
Abir Haque, heading to Shayestaganj, agreed, noting that his travel experience has been smooth so far. However, some passengers faced technical challenges. Md. Kausar, a Sylhet-bound traveler, mentioned, "Buying tickets online was a bit of a hassle. I couldn't get an AC seat and settled for a Shobon chair, but overall, the discipline at the station is a relief."
To manage the rush, the railway is allowing those without pre-purchased tickets to buy standing tickets at the platform, though officials are encouraging passengers to collect these in advance to avoid last-minute stress.
Kamalapur Railway Station Manager, Md. Sajedul Islam, confirmed the status of the operations. "So far, 20 pairs of trains have departed. Except for the 'Nilsagar Express,' which was delayed by 30 minutes, all trains left on schedule. We are committed to ensuring a hassle-free Eid journey for everyone."
