There is no fuel crisis in Bangladesh and no plans to increase prices, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam confirmed today.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the Mohakhali Bus Terminal on Monday (March 16), the Minister stated that adequate fuel supplies were dispatched to all petrol pumps nationwide starting last night. "There is no crisis anywhere; therefore, the question of increasing prices does not arise," he clarified.

Regarding the upcoming Eid holidays, the Minister emphasized that the government has taken strict measures to ensure safe travel. He warned that any transport operators charging more than the prescribed fares would face immediate legal action. While some routes are currently charging below the fixed rates, authorities remain on high alert for extortionate pricing.

Additionally, the Minister issued a stern warning against "unfit" vehicles. He stated that no vehicle without a valid fitness certificate will be allowed on the roads, and both the vehicle and the owner will be penalized if violations are found.
