A pedestrian was killed instantly in Dhaka's Farmgate area around 12:30 pm today when a bearing pad fell from the upper structure of a metro rail station. Tejgaon police confirmed the death, though the victim's identity remains unknown.

Following the structural failure, the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) immediately suspended metro rail services as a safety measure. Bearing pads are critical components placed between the viaduct and the pier to transmit load and absorb train vibrations.

This incident echoes a similar structural failure in September last year near the same station, which also led to service disruption.
