A discussion meeting was held on Tuesday to accelerate the expansion of healthcare services and fast-track the construction of the ‘Syed Moazzem General and Diabetic Hospital’ in Jhalokathi.
Organized by the Jhalokathi Diabetic Association, the event took place at its office following an inspection of the under-construction facility.
Dr. S. M. Ziauddin Haider, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Affairs attended as the chief guest. The meeting was chaired by Md. Hemayet Hossain, President of the Jhalokathi Diabetic Association.
Special guests included Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin, Superintendent of Police Marine Sultana, District Council Administrator Advocate Shahadat Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, District BNP Convener Advocate Md. Syed Hossain and Jhalokathi Press Club President Advocate Akkas Sikdar.
Speakers emphasized the urgent need to speed up construction work so that local residents can access comprehensive treatment for diabetes and other general health conditions. Local dignitaries, physicians, journalists and association members were also present.
