


A 20-year-old female tourist, Sima Akter, tragically died on Tuesday morning after her scarf got entangled in the wheel of a moving battery-operated e-rickshaw (locally known as a Tomtom) near Cox's Bazar beach.
The accident occurred around 11:30 AM on the road adjacent to Sugandha Point. Sima, a second-year Alim student at Fatema-tuz-Zohra Women's Madrasa in Debidwar Upazila, Cumilla was visiting the beach town with family members.
According to Mahbub Alam, a beach-duty staff member for the local district administration, Sima sustained severe neck injuries when her loose scarf suddenly caught in the vehicle's rotating wheel. Bystanders rescued her and rushed her to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where attending doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
Sheikh Mohammad Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station confirmed that the body has been kept at the hospital morgue. Police are completing necessary legal formalties in consultation with the victim's family.
