CMP Commissioner and Chattogram Range DIG Reshuffled

The Ministry of Home Affairs has reshuffled the top police leadership in Chattogram, appointing a new Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner and a new Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG).

The Public Safety Division issued the notification on Monday (March 16). Signed by Deputy Secretary Toushif Ahmed, the order stated that these changes were made in the public interest and are effective immediately.

CMP Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, previously the Additional Commissioner (DIG) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.

Chattogram Range DIG Md. Moniruzzaman, formerly of the Special Branch (SB) in Dhaka, takes over as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Chattogram Range.

The current CMP Commissioner, Hasib Aziz, has been transferred to the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) with a promotion/posting as Additional IGP.

The outgoing Chittagong Range DIG, Md. Ahsan Habib Palash, has been promoted to a supernumerary Additional IGP post and will now serve as the Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
