Prime Minister Tarique Rahman led a massive, colorful procession in Dhaka on Saturday to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day, calling on citizens at home and abroad to remain united against state-level conspiracies.
Flagging off the march from the BNP central office in Naya Paltan around 3:15 PM, the Prime Minister walked alongside cabinet colleagues, senior party leaders, and thousands of supporters. The rally traversed key city arteries including Kakrail, Bangla Motor and Farmgate before concluding at Manik Mia Avenue at 4:30 PM.
Addressing the gathering at Naya Paltan, PM Tarique Rahman highlighted November 7 as a historic symbol of national unity and sovereignty. He recalled how the joint soldier-civilian revolution of 1975 rescued late President Ziaur Rahman from house arrest, restored order and protected the nation's independence.
"No conspiracy inside or outside the country can suppress a democratic nation," the Prime Minister stated, citing the defining mass movements of 1971, 1975 1990, and 2024. He warned against attempts to undermine democratic institutions or revive manipulative electoral practices, declaring the slogan: "Bangladesh first, Bangladesh for all."
Thousands of activists holding national flags and portraits of Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman joined the procession. Senior BNP leaders including Mirza Abbas, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, AZM Zahid Hossain and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi were present.
This year marks the state-level observance of National Revolution and Solidarity Day for the first time in 18 years.
