Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) observed the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day with a rally and a discussion meeting on Saturday.
On November 7, the rally began at 10:00am in front of the university’s Administrative Building and paraded through different campus roads before ending at the Teachers-Students Centre (TSC). Later, a discussion meeting was held at the TSC Conference Room.
PSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan attended the programme as the chief guest. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. B. M. Saiful Islam and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Atiqur Rahman were present as special guests. The meeting was chaired by Registrar Professor Mohammad Jamal Hossain.
At the beginning of his speech, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan paid tribute to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the Proclaimer of Bangladesh’s Independence and a key figure in the historical events associated with National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
The vice-chancellor further said that the low attendance at a government programme marking a national day was disappointing. Those who remained on campus but did not attend the programme had effectively shown disregard for the government event. He warned that necessary action would be taken against those concerned.
At the end of the discussion, the vice-chancellor thanked the guests and participants, bringing the programme to a close.
