A joint delegation from Invest Bangladesh and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) conducted an on-site inspection of 800 acres of land proposed for the 'Laxmipur Economic Zone' in Char Ramani Mohan Union under Laxmipur Sadar Upazila on Saturday.
Led by Saleh Ahmed, Member (Industrial Zones) of Invest Bangladesh and Additional Secretary, the delegation evaluated the site's geography, land characteristics and overall technical feasibility.
The visit was attended by Jamshed Alam Rana, Assistant Private Secretary to the Minister of Water Resources Kathoaipru Marma, Laxmipur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sanjay Ghosh, Assistant Commissioner (Land) alongside other local administrative and land officials.
Officials and local stakeholders noted that establishing an economic zone across this 800-acre tract would open major industrialization opportunities in Laxmipur. The project aims to attract domestic and foreign investment, boost regional trade, and generate thousands of local jobs.
Full implementation of the project will proceed following the completion of comprehensive feasibility studies and administrative approvals.
