An introduction ceremony and prayer gathering for the newly elected committee of the College Road Businessmen’s Welfare Association took place in the Tongi College Gate area on Saturday.
Presided over by newly elected President Md. Shafiqul Islam Tipu, the event featured Alhaj Md. Mahbubul Alam Shukur, former Senior Joint Secretary of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP as the chief guest. Md. Kalimullah Iqbal, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Society of National Media Commission attended as a special guest.
The event formally introduced key office-bearers including General Secretary Md. Iqbal Hossain Ujjal, Organising Secretary Md. Zahidul Islam, Vice-President Md. Didarul Alam, Joint General Secretary Md. Selim Reza and Treasurer Md. Tarek Hossain. Local political leaders, municipal candidates and business owners were also present.
Addressing the gathering, speakers highlighted that a strong and unified association is vital to safeguard traders' rights, foster mutual cooperation and resolve local commercial challenges. They urged members to maintain unity and collective action to protect the community’s legitimate business interests.
Moderated by advisor Rakib Hossain Kanon, the event concluded with a special prayer seeking national prosperity and the success of the new leadership.
The association was established in September 2025 and the current committee was elected on September 29, 2026.
