Lady Gaga, Shakira, Pink, Jack White, Boy George, Sia, Vince Gill and Ne-Yo are among the nominees for the 2027 Songwriters Hall of Fame. The list covers pop, hip-hop, Latin, funk and rock.
Blondie's Debbie Harry and Chris Stein are also nominated, along with America's Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, rapper Grandmaster Melle Mel, the members of ZZ Top and the members of the band War.
Non-performing songwriters
The Hall honors both performers and non-performing songwriters. This year's songwriter nominees include:
Boy Meets Girl (George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam), who wrote Whitney Houston hits such as "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and "How Will I Know."
Feldman, Goldstein & Gottehrer, the 1960s team behind "My Boyfriend's Back" and "I Want Candy."
Maurice Starr, who wrote for New Edition and New Kids on the Block.
Stock Aitken Waterman, the trio behind Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" and Kylie Minogue's "I Should Be So Lucky."
Dan Wilson, co-writer of Adele's "Someone Like You."
Toni Wine, known for "A Groovy Kind of Love" and "Candida."
Kandi Burruss, writer of TLC's "No Scrubs."
Stargate (Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen), the Norwegian duo behind Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable" and Rihanna's "Diamonds."
will.i.am, known for Black Eyed Peas hits and songs for Usher and John Legend.
Tom Douglas, who wrote Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me."
Some of these names are also performers. They are listed in this category because they are honored for songs written for other artists.
Voting and returning nominees
Eligible members have until midnight Eastern Standard Time on Dec. 14 to vote. They can choose up to three nominees in the songwriter category and up to three in the performing-songwriter category.
Several nominees are on the ballot again: Starr, Douglas, Gill, Boy George and members of Blondie and America. Pink, Andreas Carlsson and Pete Bellotte were nominated in 2026 but not chosen. Country writer Bob McDill has appeared on the ballot six times in 15 years.
