Gas supply from Summit Group’s Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Moheshkhali resumed on Saturday following scheduled maintenance, restoring full operations across the national grid.
Petrobangla confirmed that the terminal recommenced regasifying imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) at 1:00 PM with both offshore facilities in Moheshkhali now feeding the national grid at standard operating levels. The state-run energy corporation thanked consumers for their patience during the maintenance window.
The Summit terminal was originally scheduled to pause regasification operations from 8:00 AM on November 4 until 4:00 PM on November 7 for routine maintenance. During this period, Petrobangla projected a temporary drop in daily national grid supply from 2,570 million cubic feet (mmcfd) to 2,250 mmcfd.
Addressing false reports circulating on social media prior to the work, Petrobangla clarified that nationwide gas service remained functional throughout the maintenance window though select areas experienced temporary low pressure.
Bangladesh relies on two floating LNG terminals off Moheshkhali to process imported natural gas. Summit operates one unit with a 500 mmcfd capacity, while US-based Excelerate Energy operates the second unit with a 600 mmcfd capacity also bringing the national offshore regasification capacity to 1,100 mmcfd. Summit's facility previously underwent similar maintenance in December 2025.
