West Indies strengthened their position against Bangladesh on the fourth morning, reaching 128 for 2 at lunch to extend their overall lead to 98 runs.
The visitors lost two wickets during the morning session, with Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking one each. However, Brandon King and Joshua Da Silva had already added 85 runs for the opening partnership to give West Indies a strong platform.
West Indies resumed the day with their openers looking to build on their advantage. King and Da Silva found regular boundaries from the second over of the morning.
After King punched Hasan Mahmud twice through the covers, Da Silva drove Taskin Ahmed down the ground for his first boundary of the day. King then struck two fours off Taskin in the 11th over, before Da Silva hit two more boundaries off Mahmud in the 13th.
King brought up the first six of the morning by launching Nayeem Hasan over his head, having already collected a boundary earlier in the same over.
Taijul eventually broke the partnership, trapping Da Silva lbw for 36. The left-arm spinner has now dismissed the West Indies batter six times in Test cricket.
King had a narrow escape shortly afterwards when Towhid Hridoy stretched to his left at cover but failed to hold on to an uppish drive. King was on 56 at the time.
Hodge then struck four boundaries in quick succession before Mehidy was rewarded for his disciplined bowling. King edged a delivery to slip, where Najmul Hossain Shanto took a fine catch to end his innings at 61.
King struck 10 fours and a six during his knock.
Hodge remained unbeaten on 30 and added another six off Taijul shortly before lunch. He was joined by Wickham, who was yet to score, as West Indies reached 128 for 2.
Bangladesh had earlier posted 386 in their first innings, built around Towhid Hridoy’s unbeaten 242. Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 34, while Warrican claimed four wickets for 104 runs.
West Indies had scored 356 in their first innings and held a 98-run lead at the lunch interval on the fourth day.
