Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman arrived at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari on Monday morning to inaugurate a major national infrastructure project.

The Prime Minister’s flight landed at 10:15 am, where he was received by senior party leaders and local activists. Following the reception, he departed for Dinajpur in a secure motorcade.

The centerpiece of the visit is the inauguration of a nationwide canal excavation program. The Prime Minister will personally kick off the initiative by re-excavating a 12-kilometer canal in Balrampur Sahapara, located in the Kaharol Upazila of Dinajpur.

Simultaneously, he will virtually inaugurate similar excavation projects across 54 districts, marking a significant step in the country's water management and agricultural strategy.

Following the official ceremony, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Faridpur Gorastan in Dinajpur town. He will offer prayers and pay homage at the graves of his late relatives, including Md. Iskander Majumder (Grandfather), Taiba Majumder (Grandmother), Khurshid Jahan Haque (Aunt)

Local leaders report high enthusiasm regarding the visit, citing the dual importance of the development project and the Prime Minister’s personal connection to the region. He is expected to return to Dhaka by 9:30 pm tonight.
