Government employees in Bangladesh are looking forward to a significant break this Eid-ul-Fitr. While the official holiday spans five days, strategic use of casual leave could extend the vacation to 10 consecutive days.

According to the 2026 official holiday calendar, Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall on Saturday, March 21 (subject to moon sighting). The government has designated a five-day holiday period from Thursday, March 19 to Monday, March 23.

Since Tuesday, March 17 is a holiday for Shab-e-Qadr, an employee taking a single day of leave on Wednesday, March 18 would enjoy a continuous seven-day break starting from Tuesday. Following the Eid holidays, Thursday, March 26 is Independence Day, followed by the weekend (March 27-28). By taking just two additional days of leave on March 24 and 25, employees can bridge the gap and secure a 10-day vacation.
