In a rare move to promote public hygiene, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Gaibandha-3, Principal Abul Kawsar Mohammad Nazrul Islam, has launched an extensive cleanliness drive across Sadullapur Upazila.
The campaign began Monday morning at the Sadullapur Upazila Health Complex, where the MP personally inaugurated the program by sweeping the premises. He was joined by leaders and activists from local units of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir, who assisted in removing waste from key roads and public spaces throughout the town.
Addressing the gathering, MP Nazrul Islam (Lebu) emphasized that cleanliness is a matter of social responsibility. "This is more than just a program; it is about building awareness. While we clean our streets, it is equally important to maintain purity in our hearts and intentions," he stated.
The MP further noted that the initiative was timed to honor the sanctity of the upcoming month of Ramadan. He pledged that the drive would continue across all 11 unions of the upazila to ensure a healthier environment for all residents.
Local residents have lauded the MP’s hands-on approach. Many noted that seeing a high-ranking public representative personally engaging in manual cleaning has inspired a sense of civic duty. Community leaders expressed hope that this initiative will transcend political affiliations and encourage a long-term culture of cleanliness in the region.
