Member of Parliament for Gaibandha-3, Abul Kawsar Mohammad Nazrul Islam Lebu Maulana, has provided financial assistance to six traders recently affected by a fire at Naldanga Bazar in Sadullapur Upazila.
On Friday afternoon, the MP distributed Tk 5,000 in cash to each victim from his personal fund. The recipients include salon owners Amulya and Ratan, medicine trader Fakhrul Islam, plastic merchant Mokshed Ali, electrical trader Faruk Mia, and businessman Tozammel Haque Tota Mia.
Before handing over the aid, the MP inspected the fire-damaged site and spoke with the victims. Expressing his condolences, MP Nazrul Islam stated, "This personal assistance is minimal compared to the irreparable losses you have suffered. However, I assure you of my full cooperation in securing government rehabilitation funds."
Local leaders from Sadullapur Upazila and Naldanga Union, including Ershadul Haque Emon and Sirajul Islam, were present during the visit. The traders expressed their gratitude for the MP's immediate support.
The fire, caused by an electrical short circuit, broke out near Naldanga Agrani Bank in the early hours of March 25. Following the incident, Sadullapur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mahmudul Hasan visited the site on March 26 to distribute emergency food supplies and blankets to the affected families.
