The government is set to introduce "Farmer Cards" to ensure fair prices for growers and eliminate the influence of middlemen, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan announced today.

Speaking after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday afternoon, the Minister stated that the initiative fulfills a core election pledge. The program will initially launch as a pilot project.

"We are holding coordination meetings to implement this project effectively," the Minister said. While he declined to provide a specific launch date due to ongoing technical preparations, he emphasized that the Prime Minister has ordered the project to be expedited. All relevant ministries are currently synchronized to meet this goal.
