


The government has formed a five-member committee to investigate the fatal metro rail incident at Farmgate, where a falling bearing pad killed pedestrian Abul Kalam of Shariatpur today.
Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan announced that the committee, headed by Bridges Division Secretary Abdur Rouf, must submit its report within two weeks. The probe will also review previous investigation reports to determine why such incidents are recurring.
According to metro rail authorities, the bearing pad, used to prevent vibration, came loose and fell around 12:15 pm, killing Kalam instantly.
The government has announced a compensation of Taka 5 lakh for the victim's family, and employment at the metro rail will be arranged for a qualified family member.
The adviser confirmed that the metro rail service from Uttara North to Agargaon has resumed, while the service between Agargaon and Motijheel will remain suspended until necessary repairs are completed.
