


A mobile court in Pabna’s Chatmohar upazila seized and destroyed a massive haul of illegal 'China Duari' fishing nets on Monday. According to the Upazila Fisheries Department and the estimated market value of the confiscated nets exceeds Tk.4 lakh.
The day-long drive, spanning from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM was conducted in Meghar Beel under Failjana Union. During the operation, authorities recovered 100 pieces of the banned nets which are notorious for indiscriminately trapping all species of fish and severely damaging local aquatic ecosystems.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Faisal Mahmud led the mobile court and ordered the seized nets to be publicly burned on the spot. Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Abdul Matin and members of the Chatmohar Police Station provided essential support during the raid.
Speaking on the initiative, Fisheries Officer Abdul Matin stated that the drive was strictly executed to enforce the Fisheries Protection and Conservation Act. "We seized 100 pieces of China Duari nets worth over Tk.4 lakh today," he noted, assuring the public that such operations will continue to eradicate the use of illegal nets and preserve the region's fish resources.
