Investigation committee into nepotism in recruitment business at Chatmohar Madrasa

Allegations of nepotism, corruption and recruitment business worth half a crore taka have been found in the recruitment process at Jagatala Siddiquia Bi-Mukha Dakhil Madrasa in Chatmohar Upazila, Pabna. In view of these allegations of irregularities, Chatmohar Upazila Executive Officer Musa Naser Chedhuri has formed a three-member investigation committee.

The three-member committee was formed on Sunday (December 21) afternoon and has been instructed to submit the investigation report within the next ten working days.

Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Abdul Matin K has been appointed as the convener of the investigation committee. The other two members are Assistant Programmer, Information and Communication Technology Abdullah Al Noman and Upazila Academic Supervisor Golam Mostafa.

In this regard, Chatmohar Upazila Executive Officer Musa Naser Chowdhury said that on December 12, a recruitment process was held against 4 posts in Jagatala Bi-Mukhi Dakhil Madrasa under Chatmohar Upazila. In the wake of an allegation that there was irregularity and corruption in the said recruitment, a three-member investigation committee has been formed. The committee has been instructed to submit a report after conducting an on-site investigation within the next ten working days. Further necessary action will be taken after receiving the report.

It is to be noted that a job candidate has alleged that the president of the madrasa, Bulbul Ahmed, and the superintendent of Abul Hossain, have colluded and hired their relatives in exchange for about half a crore taka through nepotism.

He mentioned in the complaint that the president of the madrasa, Bulbul Ahmed, an assistant teacher of a government primary school, and the superintendent of the madrasa, Abul Hossain, are completing the recruitment process for four posts by colluding and trading half a crore taka. President Bulbul Ahmed has recommended his cousin Tarek Mahmud for the post of office assistant cum computer operator and his cousin Rabeya Khatun for the post of nanny after passing the exam.

On the other hand, Superintendent Abul Hossain has recommended the appointment of a person he knows named Alamgir Hossain for the post of lab assistant for a large sum of money and the appointment of Nayan Hossain, nephew of local ward 9 BNP leader and former member Anwar Hossain, as a security worker.
