12-Year-Old Electrocuted to Death Charging Autorickshaw in Jhalakathi’s Nalchiti

A 12-year-old boy died and a 9-year-old was critically injured after being electrocuted while plugging in a battery-run autorickshaw for charging in Jhalakathi’s Nalchiti upazila.

The tragic incident occurred around 2:15 PM on Friday in Deopasha village under Ward No. 5 of Siddhakathi Union.

According to locals, Sajal Chandra Debnath and young Tahsin were severely shocked while handling the vehicle's live electrical connection. Neighbors quickly rescued the boys and rushed them to the Nalchiti Upazila Health Complex.

Upon arrival, the on-duty physician declared Sajal son of local resident Babul Chandra Debnath dead.

Tahsin, whose condition remains critical received primary care at the health complex before being transferred to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) for advanced treatment.

Nalchiti Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Touhiduzzaman Sohag confirmed the incident adding that subsequent legal procedures are currently underway.
