


A 40-year-old man died from electrocution while clearing accumulated water from a building's roof in Debottar Bazar, Atgharia, on Thursday morning.
The deceased, Shahadat Hossain, was a resident of Kadamdanga village in Chandva Union and the son of Md. Jabbar Hossain. He was a long-time employee at a local shop, Akul Store.
The incident occurred around 10:00 am on the roof of the Al Arafah Islami Bank agent building. According to local sources, Shahadat accidentally came into contact with a live main power line passing adjacent to the building while draining the water. He died on the spot.
Upon receiving the information, a unit from the Atgharia Fire Service quickly arrived and recovered his body, which was found entangled in the electric wire. Fire Service officials noted the incident was a tragic accident caused by inadvertent contact with the exposed mains cable.
