Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has stressed the need for stronger coordination among utility and development agencies to tackle the city’s waterlogging crisis.
Presiding over an emergency meeting of the 19-member waterlogging coordination committee at the CCC conference room on Thursday afternoon, the Mayor reviewed ongoing drainage and canal clearing operations aimed at easing public suffering during the monsoon.
The meeting emphasized accelerating waterlogging mega-projects, regularly cleaning canals and drains, and swiftly removing drainage obstructions. Officials from key agencies—including the Chittagong Development Authority (CDA), Chattogram WASA, Bangladesh Army’s 34 Engineering Brigade, Chattogram Metropolitan Police, and the Chittagong Port Authority—agreed to work in unison.
Mayor Shahadat stated that the progress of all ongoing projects will be regularly monitored to ensure swift and effective implementation.
