In a major step toward building a "Smart Chattogram," Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain officially launched the ‘Our Chattogram’ app on Saturday to bring essential civic services and grievance redressal onto a single digital platform.
The mobile and web application was inaugurated at the Chattogram Engineers Institution Auditorium. Developed by Vento Tech and funded entirely by Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing the state-of-the-art platform was implemented at no cost to the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).
Calling the launch a groundbreaking milestone, Mayor Shahadat emphasized the necessity of accessible public services. "This app is not just a tool; it is a digital bridge between citizens and the City Corporation. Our goal is to build a transparent, clean and accountable Chattogram where technology delivers services directly to the people," he stated.
Through the ‘Our Chattogram’ app, residents can snap photos of civic issues across 10 categories including waterlogging, damaged roads, garbage buildup, mosquito infestations and faulty streetlights and report them directly to the CCC with geolocation data. Users can then track the live resolution status of their complaints.
The platform also integrates emergency services direct communication with the Mayor also holding tax payments and trade license applications. For administrators a dedicated officer dashboard featuring ward-based heat maps and an automatic ticketing system will ensure faster response times and greater accountability.
Presiding over the ceremony, CCC Acting Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Ashraful Amin outlined upcoming tech integrations. He revealed that AI-powered cameras will soon be linked to the system to automatically detect unattended garbage and waterlogging. Furthermore, holding tax and trade license services will be fully digitized within two months.
Mayor Shahadat urged residents to download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to actively participate in maintaining the city's livability.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Chattogram WASA Managing Director Engineer Selim Md. Jane Alam, DIG (Chattogram Range) Md. Moniruzzaman, CMP Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali and politician Abul Hashem Bakkar, alongside other senior officials and civil society representatives.
