


Gazipur Industrial Police have arrested three people including the mastermind in connection with the theft of Tk.1 crore meant for workers' salaries at Lavenda Fashion factory in Gazipur's Mouchak area. Police recovered Tk 97 lakh of the stolen money during the operation.
Industrial Police Superintendent Md Amjad Hossain announced the arrests at a press conference on Saturday.
According to police, the money was being transported on September 1 for salary payments at the factory, located in Gazipur's Rajendrapur area. As the cash reached in front of Cadet Club in Rupganj, Narayanganj, Zahid Hasan, the personal driver of a Chinese businessman, allegedly fled with the money in a planned act.
Following the incident Industrial Police launched raids using intelligence and technology with arresting Zahid Hasan and two others including a woman.
Police recovered Tk 97 lakh from the arrested individuals and said efforts are ongoing to retrieve the remaining amount. SP Amjad Hossain said anyone else involved in the crime would also be brought to justice. The case is under investigation.
