The Asif-Jahangir Parishad lead by Mohammad Asif Chowdhury and Mohammad Jahangir Alam was elected unopposed to lead the Chattogram District Unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society following its Special General Meeting held Saturday at Jamieson Red Crescent Maternity Hospital in Andarkilla.
The meeting, chaired by Chattogram District Council Administrator and Red Crescent Unit Chairman Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, announced the new committee with Mohammad Asif Chowdhury elected Vice-Chairman and Mohammad Jahangir Alam elected Secretary. Other committee members include Dr M M Sarwar Alam, Dr Taslim Chowdhury, Raihanul Anwar Rahi, Jahangir Alam Babar and Advocate Muhammad Rahim Uddin Chowdhury.
Speaking after his election, Vice-Chairman Asif Chowdhury pledged to fulfill his responsibilities with dedication and strengthen the unit's humanitarian activities with support from members and volunteers. He said the committee would work together to improve service quality at Jamieson Hospital and make the organization's activities more effective.
Red Crescent members and other stakeholders attended the meeting, with the new leadership emphasizing plans to expand humanitarian work also enhance hospital services and strengthen organizational operations going forward.
