Gold prices have risen again in the country with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) fixing the price of 22-carat gold (with VAT) at Tk.2,47,743 per bhori.

The decision came from BAJUS's Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Tuesday in a notice signed by committee chairman Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen. BAJUS said the revision reflects current rates for tejabi gold in the local market. The new prices took effect nationwide from Tuesday morning.

Under the updated rates 21-carat gold now costs Tk.2,36,574 per bhori while 18-carat gold rose by Tk.341 to Tk.2,03,187. Traditional gold prices increased by Tk.1,108 per bhori.

This marks the third price hike in recent days. BAJUS had earlier raised 22-carat gold to Tk 2,82,046 on August 22 following another increase on August 20.

The new rates will remain effective at jewellery shops until further notice though making charges will vary depending on design and craftsmanship.
