The Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) has once again reduced gold prices with citing a decline in the local price of pure gold (tejabi gold).

Effective from 10:00 am on Friday the price of 22-carat gold has been slashed by Tk.2,158, bringing the new rate down to Tk.2,31,880 per bhori (11.664 grams).

Under the revised pricing the new per-bhori rates are 21-carat gold is Tk.2,21,441, 18-carat gold Tk.1,90,123 and Traditional gold Tk.1,55,306.

BAJUS reminded customers that these new prices already include VAT. Jewelers are strictly prohibited from collecting VAT separately though making charges will continue to vary based on the jewellery's design. Existing rules for exchanging and purchasing ornaments remain unchanged.

Silver prices also saw a downward revision. The price of 22-carat silver was cut by Tk.116, setting the new rate at Tk.5,016 per bhori. The updated prices for 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional silver are Tk.4,782, Tk.4,082 and Tk.3,091, respectively.

This recent drop follows a previous price cut on September 9. The local precious metals market has experienced unprecedented volatility this year. Gold prices have been adjusted 114 times in 2026 with 56 increases and 57 decreases. Silver has similarly fluctuated with 69 adjustments this year, a sharp contrast to the mere 13 adjustments recorded in 2025.
