


Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) hosted "The Agriculturist Olympiad 2026" on Wednesday to inspire students toward innovation, leadership and global networking in the agricultural sector.
Organized by the GAU chapter of the International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) Bangladesh and sponsored by Kamarun Agro Farm also the event brought together nearly 500 students. The program featured a competitive exam, a career counseling session and an award ceremony.
Speaking as the chief guest GAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman emphasized the evolving role of the sector. "Agriculture is no longer confined to growing crops also it has become a key arena for science, technology and innovation" he stated. "Students must mold themselves as problem solvers and future leaders rather than just job seekers."
During the career counseling session the experts guided students on future professional opportunities. Dr. Sattwikesh Paul discussed higher education prospects abroad while Kaliganj Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Hasibul Hasan shared strategies for securing government jobs. GAU Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad also urged students to actively develop their leadership skills alongside their academic studies.
The event concluded with an award ceremony recognizing the Olympiad's top ten performers. Mst. Tafsia Tawheed secured first place followed by Md. Muhit Al Jobayer in second and Sabrina Salam in third. The winners were awarded cash prizes, crests and certificates.
Chaired by local IAAS Director Taufiqul Islam the Olympiad successfully united young minds to test their knowledge, exchange experiences and explore their potential in addressing global agricultural challenges.
