Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has once again secured its position as Bangladesh’s top-ranked agricultural institution in the newly released Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026.
In the latest rankings published on April 23, 2026, GAU placed within the 401–500 bracket in Asia. Nationally, the university jointly secured the third position among all public universities in Bangladesh, outperforming all other specialized agricultural institutions in the country.
GAU’s reputation as a "Center of Excellence" was bolstered by a high score of 67 in Research Quality, reflecting the significant impact of its scientific output. The THE rankings evaluated 929 universities across 36 countries based on five key indicators: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. GAU earned an aggregate score of 174.9 across these categories.
This success follows a string of recent accolades, including a top spot among local agricultural universities in the QS World University Sustainability Rankings 2026.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman credited the achievement to the collective efforts of the faculty and students. "This ranking recognizes our hard work, but we are not stopping here," he stated. "We have launched initiatives to break into the top 200 globally. Our focus remains on innovation and research to ensure national food security and excellence in agriculture."
