

Proper implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum is essential to improving educational quality and preparing students to compete globally, Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan has said.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at a day-long workshop titled “Teaching and Assessment in OBE Curriculum” held on Friday at BOU’s Gazipur campus. The workshop was organised by the Department of History of the University of Dhaka.
Professor Khan stressed the importance of teacher training and workshops to ensure effective teaching and assessment under the OBE curriculum.
Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam Sarkar, dean of the University of Dhaka’s Faculty of Arts, attended as the special guest. He emphasised making effective use of experienced teachers’ expertise and addressing shortcomings in teaching and assessment to improve educational standards.
The workshop was chaired by Professor Dr Ashfaq Hossain, chairman of the Department of History. He highlighted the need for active teacher participation, effective communication with students and collective efforts to ensure the successful implementation of the OBE curriculum.
Teachers from the Department of History took part in the workshop, which focused on OBE-based teaching practices, effective curriculum implementation and student assessment methods.
