Gold prices in Bangladesh have gone up again after three straight drops. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) bumped up the price of high-quality 22-carat gold by Tk.2,216 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the total price including VAT to Tk.2,30,772. The new rates kicked off at 10 AM on Wednesday (September 30).
BAJUS announced the hike following a morning meeting of its pricing committee led by Chairman Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen. Officials cited a rise in pure gold prices in the local bullion market for the adjustment.
The increase comes right after BAJUS reduced 22-carat gold prices in three consecutive phases between September 26 and 28. However the local market demand quickly pushed prices back up.
Under the updated price is 22-carat gold: Tk.2,30,772 per bhori (with VAT), 21-carat gold: Tk.2,20,391 per bhori, 18-carat gold: Tk.1,89,248 per bhori and Traditional method gold: Tk.1,54,606 per bhori.
While gold shot up the silver prices remained steady. High-quality 22-carat silver stays at Tk.4,316 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk.4,141, 18-carat at Tk.3,558, and traditional silver at Tk.2,683 per bhori.
