Train Hits Parked Tempo in Chattogram, Two Injured

A Cox's Bazar-bound tourist express train collided with a CNG-run tempo parked near the railway line in Boalkhali, Chattogram on Monday injuring two passengers including a child. Six train doors were damaged in the crash.

The accident occurred around 1pm in front of the new police station office in Boalkhali Municipality Sadar, shortly after the train left Gomdandi Railway Station on its route from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar.

Eyewitnesses said the train struck the tempo parked close to the tracks, cutting off part of the vehicle and forcing open a train door, injuring several passengers. The train later resumed its journey.

Gomdandi Station Master Anwarul Tarek said six doors of the non-stop tourist express were damaged in the collision. The tempo bearing registration Chattmetro-F 11-0416 along with the dislodged door has been seized. He said legal action would follow railway authorities' instructions.

Railway Pointsman Rafiqul Islam said such accidents recur in the area due to vehicles being parked near the tracks also adding that the recovered door has been kept at the station.
