Spider-Man Tops Box Office; Nolan’s The Odyssey Hits Record

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" maintained its top spot at the North American box office for a fourth consecutive weekend, grossing $39 million from 4,006 theaters.

The Marvel release has earned over $854.9 million in North America, placing it on track to surpass "Avengers: Endgame" as the second highest-grossing domestic film of all time, behind "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($936.7 million).

Sony also claimed second place with horror sequel "Insidious: Out of the Further" which opened to $25.3 million domestically and $35 million internationally against an $18 million budget.

Christopher Nolan’s "The Odyssey" took third place with adding $19.5 million in its sixth weekend. With $539.1 million domestically, it surpassed "The Dark Knight" ($534.9 million) to become Nolan's highest-grossing domestic release. Internationally, the epic pushed its global total to $1.4 billion, cementing its status as the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

The strong performance across genres pushed North American summer ticket sales to $4.4 billion also ranking among the top four summer seasons in history. Overall domestic box office revenue for the year has surpassed $7 billion up 20.4% compared to 2025 as the industry continues to recover from past production delays.
