“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” continued its remarkable run at the box office with earning an estimated $144.5 million in the United States and Canada during its second weekend.

The Sony-Marvel film has now grossed $1.67 billion worldwide in just 10 days including $655.1 million domestically and more than $1 billion internationally. It reached the $1 billion mark faster than any other film this year by overtaking “Toy Story 5.”

Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” also achieved a major milestone with crossing $1 billion worldwide in its fourth weekend. The Universal release added $31.5 million domestically by taking its global total to $1.1 billion.

The result makes “The Odyssey” Nolan’s highest-grossing film ever without adjusting for inflation surpassing “The Dark Knight Rises” ($1.08 billion) and “The Dark Knight” ($1 billion). “Oppenheimer” finished at $975 million.

IMAX has also been a major contributor to the film’s success. “The Odyssey” has earned $147.3 million domestically from IMAX screenings with making it the format’s highest-grossing domestic release.

The two blockbusters are helping drive Hollywood toward its strongest box-office performance since the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Rentrak the domestic ticket sales are 18.5% ahead of last year while five films have already surpassed $1 billion globally.

Summer theatrical revenue is also approaching the $4 billion milestone with the total standing just $14.8 million short through Sunday. Since the pandemic only the summer of 2023—powered by “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” has exceeded that figure.

“The Odyssey” still has China ahead where it is scheduled to open Friday and potentially giving Nolan’s epic another significant boost.
