


Three more people died of dengue and 994 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the 24 hours leading up to Monday morning according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest fatalities and the total number of dengue-related deaths in Bangladesh has reached 85 this year.
Of the newly hospitalized patients, Khulna division recorded the highest number with 215 admissions followed by 158 in Dhaka division (excluding city corporations). Dhaka South City Corporation reported 126 cases while Dhaka North City Corporation recorded 97.
Other regional totals included 117 cases in Barisal, 107 in Chittagong, 76 in Rajshahi, 71 in Mymensingh, 23 in Rangpur and 4 in Sylhet division.
DGHS data shows that cumulative dengue infections nationwide have reached 29,923 this year. Male patients account for 61.9% of total recorded cases while female patients account for 38.1%.
Health authorities urge citizens to destroy potential Aedes mosquito breeding sites in standing water around their homes and seek prompt medical attention if dengue symptoms develop.
