A mobile court in Laxmipur fined four shops Tk.4,000 for staying open past 8 PM on Monday.

The district administration conducted a mobile court drive in Laxmipur town on Monday night to enforce the government's energy conservation regulations.

Led by Executive Magistrate Md. Habibur Rahman the operation began around 8:30 PM. Under current Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources directives, all regular shops, markets and shopping malls must close by 8:00 PM to save electricity. Only essential services such as pharmacies and food stores are exempt from this rule.

During the drive, the mobile court found several businesses operating beyond the deadline. Four establishments were fined a total of Tk.4,000 for violating the mandatory closing time and the fines were collected on the spot as a formal warning.

Alongside enforcing the law officials conducted an awareness campaign. They urged local traders and the public to actively conserve electricity and strictly adhere to the government's designated operating hours.

The Laxmipur District Police provided full support during the operation. The district administration has confirmed that such routine drives will continue to ensure complete compliance with the national energy-saving mandate.
