Laxmipur Police 386 Arrested in Anti-Drug Drives Over 7 Months

District police arrested 386 individuals and registered 280 cases during continuous anti-drug operations across Laxmipur over the past seven months.

Additionally, mobile courts sentenced 137 drug dealers and users to various prison terms during the same period, according to official police reports.

The operations, conducted across six police stations in the district, led to significant narcotics seizures. Law enforcement recovered 31,208 Yaba pills, 163 kilograms of marijuana and 18 live marijuana plants.

Laxmipur Superintendent of Police Md. Abu Tarek confirmed that regular operations and legal measures remain underway to dismantle local drug distribution networks. However, he emphasized that stricter legal tools are necessary to curb the crisis effectively.

"Swift implementation of the Narcotics Control Act is vital for stronger enforcement," SP Tarek stated. He urged the fast-tracking of trials through special tribunals to expedite cases including those carrying maximum penalties for major trafficking offenses.

The police chief called for sustained cooperation among law enforcement, local administration and the public to establish a drug-free society.
