


Five more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 AM on Monday with bringing Bangladesh's combined toll of confirmed and suspected measles deaths to 938 this year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified all five recent fatalities as suspected measles cases. This brings the total number of suspected measles deaths to 839 while laboratory-confirmed deaths remain at 99.
Health authorities recorded 1,149 new suspected cases during the same 24-hour period and pushing the national cumulative total of suspected infections to 150,652. Additionally, 83 new laboratory-confirmed cases were registered with bringing total confirmed cases to 18,487.
Since the outbreak accelerated on March 15, a total of 131,664 patients with suspected measles have required hospitalization nationwide. Of those admitted, 126,921 patients have successfully recovered according to official DGHS statistics.
Health officials continue to monitor hospital admissions and advise parents to ensure children receive timely vaccinations.
