Drive to Activate Village Courts in Narail's Kalia Upazila

To ensure swift and accessible justice at the grassroots level, Genarul Islam the District Manager of the Village Court Activation Project inspected three Union Parishads (UPs) in Narail’s Kalia upazila on Monday.

During his visit to the Kalabaria, Baoisona and Salamabad UPs, the district manager held discussions with UP chairmen, accounting assistants and other local representatives. He provided directives to make village court operations more dynamic, transparent and people-friendly.

The discussions primarily focused on efficiently handling village court cases, properly preserving legal documents and ensuring rapid service delivery. Strategies to improve the overall administrative activities of the Union Parishads were also addressed to better serve the rural population.

Following the UP visits, General Islam met with Kalia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Jinnatul Islam. They discussed key administrative issues including Village Courts Management Committee (VCMC) meetings, the criteria for awarding the best UP chairman and ways to elevate the quality of local government services.

Highlighting the public value of the initiative, General Islam stated that an active village court system allows minor disputes to be resolved locally and amicably. "This initiative not only ensures rapid justice but also significantly reduces the time, expenses, and harassment traditionally faced by common people seeking legal recourse," he explained.

Deepa Gharami, Kalia Upazila Coordinator for the project's third phase journalist and VCMC member Md. Khairul Islam Chowdhury, along with various UP officials also accompanied the district manager during the inspection.
