The Kalia upazila administration in Narail has distributed gifts to mothers and their newborns to promote safe motherhood and encourage natural deliveries.
The gifts were handed over to four families at the Kalia Upazila Health Complex on Wednesday. The initiative aims to congratulate mothers who opted for normal deliveries while raising community awareness about essential maternal and child healthcare.
Speaking at the event, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Jinnatul Islam emphasized that ensuring safe motherhood is a critical priority for local authorities.
"To protect the health of both mother and newborn, we must encourage normal deliveries alongside regular health checkups," the UNO said. "We hope this small token of appreciation will inspire more families to make informed and safe healthcare choices in the future."
He added that the administration plans to continue such initiatives to foster a positive community attitude towards natural births and proper maternal care.
The distribution event was attended by key local health and administrative officials, including Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mohammad Shoaib, Family Planning Officer F. M. Abu Taher and Project Implementation Officer Md. Mostafa Kamal.
Receiving the gifts, the families expressed their gratitude, noting that the local administration’s unexpected support and recognition doubled the joy of welcoming their newborns.
