BTV Director General Kazi Jasin said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken a major initiative to transform Bangladesh Television (BTV) into a credible, modern and publicly trusted broadcaster.

In a social media post on Tuesday, Jasin said the institution was long used as a propaganda tool during the Awami League era and lost public trust with no reform seen even after the mass uprising. He said the Prime Minister now wants BTV rebuilt as a credible channel an effort also he claimed no previous government had seriously pursued.

Jasin noted that while many spoke of a "new arrangement" after the uprising, the public saw little real change. He said Prime Minister Rahman is instead working quietly toward genuine reform, without loud declarations.

"I am genuinely impressed by his vision for BTV" Jasin said, adding that the goal is not just to restore BTV's former standing but to elevate it to a more modern and prestigious position.

He acknowledged that rebuilding an old institution is harder than starting fresh, but called the challenge a welcome one also saying work toward that goal has already begun.

Jasin concluded by seeking public goodwill, cooperation and support for the initiative.
