Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has allocated Tk.1,904.42 crore for fiscal 2026-27 to develop South Dhaka into a modern, traffic-free, green and livable city, DSCC Administrator Md Abdus Salam told BSS. This year's allocation is lower than last year's original Tk.2,196.40 crore but slightly above the revised Tk.1,707.41 crore.

Of the total Tk.806.49 crore is earmarked for infrastructure funded by DSCC itself, up from Tk.728.15 crore last year. Roads and highways will receive the largest share Tk.526.6 crore for development, renovation and maintenance.

A key highlight is Tk.40 crore allocated for AI-based traffic signals at 22 intersections, developed with BUET's technical support. Salam said such technology-driven traffic management is now essential, not optional to ease congestion.

Another Tk.40 crore is set aside for relocating the Sayedabad Inter-District Bus Terminal to Kanchpur, per the Prime Minister's directive, reducing long-distance bus movement within the city.

For environment and recreation Tk.45 crore will fund Dhanmondi Lake's development and beautification while Tk.7 crore is allocated for tree plantation under the National Tree Plantation Programme. A permanent nursery in Osmani Udyan has already collected 1,400 saplings with plans to produce 15,000–20,000 more next year. A second nursery is being set up near Nagar Bhaban.

Salam said urban development must go beyond roads and buildings to include green spaces citizen amenities and public responsibility in maintaining city infrastructure.
