The five-day festival of Durga Puja in Ramgarh concluded peacefully on Wednesday afternoon with the solemn immersion of Goddess Durga idols into the Feni River along the Bangladesh-India border.
Following religious rituals, including Dashami vihita puja and darpan visarjan, devotees brought out a colorful procession from the Ramgarh Sri Sri Dakshineshwari Kalibari mandap. The procession moved through major town roads before gathering at the riverbank, where women participated in the traditional sindoor khela (vermilion ritual) amidst the sound of drums and devotional music.
The district administration and law enforcement agencies the Police, RAB, BGB, Ansar and Fire Service maintained strict security measures, medical teams and volunteer surveillance to ensure a peaceful celebration without any disruptions.
Badal Chakraborty, President of the Puja Celebration Committee, thanked local administration officials and Khagrachhari Member of Parliament Wadud Bhuiyan for their guidance and logistical support throughout the festival.
Beyond the religious rites, a traditional rural fair set up near the temple grounds drew visitors of all backgrounds including Muslim and Buddhist residents, showcasing the region's enduring spirit of communal harmony.
Leaders from local civic groups and political organizations also remained present to ensure that all devotees could observe their rituals safely and freely.
