Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) says it has exceeded its waste removal target following Eid-ul-Azha, clearing more sacrificial animal and market waste than initially planned.
In a statement issued on Monday (June 1), DSCC said a total of 36,086 tonnes of waste had been transported to the Matuail Landfill since Eid, surpassing the target of 33,942 tonnes.
According to DSCC, waste collection over the past three days totaled 36,086 tonnes, including 14,814 tonnes on the first day, 8,977 tonnes on the second day, and 12,295 tonnes on the third day.
The city corporation has requested residents to report any locations where waste remains uncollected. Complaints can be submitted by calling 01709900888 or 02223386014. DSCC said it aims to remove reported waste within one hour of receiving a complaint.
To support the cleanup operation, 13,453 DSCC and PCSP personnel worked in the field. A total of 2,117 vehicles, including 382 specialized waste management vehicles and machines, were deployed.
DSCC also reported that 17,315 animals were sacrificed over the last three days at 357 designated locations across its jurisdiction.
