State Minister for Foreign Affairs and BNP Organizing Secretary, Shama Obaed Islam, stated on Monday that the National Parliament will be restored as the central hub for all state decisions.
She made these remarks as the chief guest during the inauguration of an 8-kilometer canal excavation project. The project, stretching from Ballerbag to Sonakhola Bridge in Manikdaha Union, Bhanga Upazila, is part of a broader state initiative to revitalize the country’s waterways.
"The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is committed to fulfilling the people's aspirations," Shama Obaed said. "We prove our pledges through action, and the implementation of the 'July Charter' will be led by the BNP."
The excavation is part of a nationwide program to dig and re-excavate rivers, canals, and reservoirs. During the event, the State Minister also participated in a tree-planting drive.
Local officials confirmed that three canals are slated for excavation in Bhanga Upazila, with a total of 19 canals planned across Faridpur district. The project emphasizes community involvement through local volunteer work.
The initiative is expected to improve monsoon drainage, enhance irrigation for agricultural lands, and support the local ecological balance.
The event was attended by Faridpur-4 MP and Central Krishak Dal General Secretary Shahidul Islam Babul, Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan Mollah, and Superintendent of Police Nazrul Islam, alongside government officials and district BNP leaders.
