Only BNP Can Drive Bangladesh’s Development: Shama Obaed

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam asserted on Friday that only the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) possesses the vision to achieve the country's desired development. She stated that under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's leadership the national progress will gain unprecedented momentum.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Saltha Bridge in Faridpur, Shama criticized the previous administration. She remarked that for the past 17 years an "unelected government" marginalized citizens across all political affiliations and faiths. She emphasized that the current government now offers a genuine opportunity for inclusive public welfare.

Prioritizing education and local infrastructure, the state minister outlined plans to establish high-quality schools, colleges and madrasas in every union to secure a better future for the youth. "In the next five years, God willing, the comprehensive development of this region will be our singular focus" she told local party activists also urging unity across all communities regardless of religion or caste.

The event, organized by the local BNP at the Saltha Upazila headquarters, was presided over by Khalid Saifullah Sardar, Executive Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department. Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Afzal Hossain Khan Palash attended as a special guest alongside local administration officials and senior BNP leaders.

Earlier in the day, Shama also laid the foundation stones for a World Bank-funded "Primary School cum Flood Shelter" at Mazhardia Government Primary School and the new "Saltha Upazila Administration School and College."
