The Nilphamari District Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested a suspected drug dealer also recovering narcotics worth approximately Tk.60,000 during a raid in Syedpur upazila.
The arrestee, identified as 43-year-old Md. Anas Ali was apprehended at the Kachari intersection in Uttar Sonakhuli village on Wednesday.
Acting on an intelligence tip-off, a DB team led by Officer-in-Charge Md. Matlubor Rahman conducted the operation. During the raid, police seized one kilogram of marijuana and 100 Tapentadol tablets from his possession. Additionally, law enforcers confiscated an unregistered 150cc Pulsar motorcycle allegedly used for drug transportation, a mobile phone and Tk 1,676 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
According to the district police media cell, initial interrogations revealed that Anas Ali is a professional drug trafficker who already has multiple cases pending against him in court.
Following the raid, a new case was filed at the Syedpur Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act 2018. The accused was subsequently produced before a local court on Thursday.
