Two Arrested with Yaba Pills and Car Seized in Shantiganj, Sunamganj

Police in Sunamganj's Shantiganj upazila arrested two men and seized 175 Yaba tablets, a private car and drug consumption equipment during a targeted anti-narcotics drive on Thursday night.

The arrestees have been identified as Hafizur Rahman, 33, of Dungria village, and Sadiq Ahmed Nur, 34, of Ganiganj village.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team initially including Sub-Inspector Nur Uddin Ahmed set up a security checkpoint near the Shantiganj Bazar CNG stand. Officers intercepted a private car and during a search and found 30 Yaba pills on the suspects. Another 100 pills were discovered hidden beneath the driver's footrest.

Based on information extracted during their primary interrogation, police conducted a follow-up raid led by Shantiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Oli Ullah at a garage in the Dungria Baghbari area. There, authorities recovered an additional 45 Yaba pills.

In total 175 Yaba tablets were confiscated. Police estimate the seized contraband weighs 17.5 grams and holds a street value of approximately Tk.52,500.

OC Oli Ullah confirmed the details of the operation, stating that the process of filing a formal case against the two suspects under the Narcotics Control Act of 2018 is currently underway.
